Training and Volunteering Opportunities
SCOPE
(Stress Centre Opportunites Project)
Unfortunately SCOPE funding ended in 2008. The project offered a range of training and volunteering opportunities for Castlemilk residents who could feel excluded from community participation or economic development, through personal circumstances.
Participants had the opportunity to take part in a range of FREE training and personal development that could be adapted to suit the individual. Everyone was supported along the way. We offered the following courses:
STEPS (Personal Development) now see Programme of Activities (still available through core services)

Relaxation for Trainers
Reiki now see Programme of Activities (still available through core services)
You could choose to do as much or as little of the training available as you wished. However, we did recommend that everyone started off with the STEPS (Personal Development) course. This was ideal preparation for the rest of the training offered.
The Stress Centre found that everyone enjoyed taking part in the training and support was available to help them meet their own personal goals. This was as simple as gaining new skills for personal use, or the possibility of progressing to using new skills by volunteering in the community. We still currently support two volunteers who provide Reiki on an outreach basis to 2 Castlemilk Projects and 3 volunteers who provide reception cover in the Stress Centre. We are in the process of trying to secure further funding to support volunteers in the future . Whatever clients aims were, they were assured that they would be supported in achieving them.
You could take as much as you wanted from SCOPE depending on your own needs. The project was there for clients to get what they wanted from it. We were always open to new ideas and suggestions from participants and regularly asked clients to have their say on the training and support that was available.
